We had a wonderful night last Thursday (21st of March) for the Basildon at 70 Arts Week ideas session. Lots of animated discussions along with performances from author Rose Hadleigh-Adams of the Ladygate Scribblers writers group based in Wickford and storyteller Carl Merry organiser of The East Anglian Storytelling Festival, and our very own poet trustee Liz Grant.

Lu Williams also spoke about her current Essex Cultural Diversity Basildon based project which involves zine making with community groups over the coming months, and Shaun Badham introduced his Bas-Arts-Index initiative, both of which are brilliant projects that you really should take a look at.

It was also great to see Jo Cullen and Ken Porter members of the Basildon Borough Heritage Group, who play an important role in looking after the local archives.

The Foundation for Essex Arts would like to put out a massive thanks for all those that attended, but also to those that couldn’t make it but have submitted ideas.

BUT! WE ARE NOT FINISHED YET - THERE IS STILL TIME TO SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS!

THE DEADLINE IS APRIL 12TH by 12pm.

Let us know your ideas for anything arts related that you would like to see or could contribute to the Basildon at 70 Arts Week being held from 23 - 28th September 2019 at the Towngate Theatre.

Please contact us via the website with your idea, and feel free to ask us any questions.
